What is the top 1 thing we must change to lose weight?

NOTE: Officially published this in Jan 2022. It was sitting here unpublished. So I posted on the off chance someone needs to read this.

Stop hating on yourself! You deserve so much more!


The Post: What is the number 1 thing we must change to lose weight or to make changes in any area of our life?

To master our mindsets! We must change the inside mindset, the inner thoughts, before we can change on the outside.

Yes with hard work you can!

Even looking like that, in my head I felt fat. I was the whole time comparing myself to my training buddy and felt so fucking not good enough. 

I went into self sabotage mode and screwed up all the good work I had done already. By the time I had got on stage I was bloated and looked and felt shit. The green suit photos. 

I also later made YouTube vids of how I felt. It’s so important that you work on changing the internal thoughts/ views or those changes will not last. Learn to love yourself, approve of yourself and work at creating new lifestyle changes as in making habits that you use and stick with every day. Such as
  1. Eating healthy meals that you enjoy
  2. Drinking plenty of water everyday
  3. Learn to lose the sugar and calories laden drinks
  4. Build exercise habits that you genuinely enjoy. Make it a habit to exercise everyday well at least 5 days per week just because you enjoy it


Yes I know these may seem a bit far fetched and you may be thinking ohh I could never be one of those fit or healthy people but I’m here to educate you that that can be you. You can teach yourself gradually to learn to love eating healthy and to learn to love exercise.

The thing is that in all my comp preps they just felt like punishment, eating foods that I didn't typically enjoy, and I had limited self worth and self love. 



Yes we all have days that we can’t be bothered exercising, however when you’ve built this engrained habit of going to the gym then you just go and do your exercise. When you do the same thing over and over again you just get used to it and eventually it just becomes the norm.



Think of a time when you started something new or finished something. For example; I quit coffee go back a few months now and at first I felt lost in the morning because I would usually go straight to make coffee so my whole morning went out of whack. Now months on I don’t even think about it. I’ve just erased the habit and now I don’t even notice.

It’s all about changing the inside thoughts so that they match on the outside. It is possible and can be done and yes it is a constant journey.

Start by being honest with yourself and journaling. 

Ask yourself this very horrible question. It is horrible but it brings up the truth of how you really feel about yourself and then you have a starting point of where to begin and where you need to start your healthy thinking affirmations.

Journal and ask , what do I hate about myself?  It is astounding at what shit and unhealthy beliefs actually com up.


And now it’s time to learn to love yourself just as your are. To love yourself with all your imperfections because you are perfect even with them! 

Imagine if your daughter or loved one spoke to themselves how you talk to yourself. You would be absolutely horrified and would stop them and tell them everything that you love about them. 
So be your own best friend! Be kind and loving to yourself! 

You are safe, and you are loved and you are perfect in every single way xx

Where has your "dot to dot" led you?

Have you heard of the speech of "connecting the dots"?

This story really resonates with me as I'm sure that it does so within you also. 
For those who are not aware, I opened my first Massage business back 2013 ish. To be honest over the years there have been so many occasions that I considered selling and moving on. As I always had this knowingness that I was meant to be teaching and coaching.

Then I heard in a Louise Hay clip that we can choose to have both. You can have both!

I am always somehow guided back and I remember why I started and what I love about my businesses.

When I look back and join up all those dots, I remember that I am passionate about providing massage. Especially to working mum's and enabling busy individuals to have a massage delivered to their door. I'm always somehow reminded that I do love my business.

I remember back to all the years that I forgot to look after myself. Well its more of the case that I didn't even know how important it was to after myself first as a Mum. That's why I do what I do now. That is why I love and stick with my massage businesses. That is how I ended up being naturally drawn to educating and teaching others about how to start their own business. To make time for themselves. And now years on to all the repeat clients that we have, they obviously love the service

So I invite you to take 5, and really ponder on where you are now. Where has your dot to dot guided you?

If you are somehow feeling lost or unclear, then remember that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

There is never a wrong path. Never question are you taking the wrong road. Some of our paths have been our best life lessons. One that you were meant to take. After all, it is just another dot and its not until that you look back that you can see the reason why.

You need that massage more than you think!

I have a question to ask you.

Are you one of those type of clients that only call for a massage when you are desperate for one?
I also used to be one of those. That was until I learnt the importance of receiving a regular massage. And the importance of putting oneself first.
As a massage therapist I witness on most days a client calling because they need a massage 'now'.
It is always the same story. They have had this little niggle for a while now, they have ignored the signals from their body. Then they call because they are literally desperate for muscle and pain relief.

Don't get me wrong. I used to be one of these types too. To be honest I'm still learning the art of putting oneself first and forcing myself rest time.
The thing is, is that when you are having those little niggles, this is your body giving you warning signs. Signs of "hey you need some rest". Or "hey, your body needs a massage".

Your body is always communicating with you. Its designed that way. And it is up to you to listen to the warning signs before your body starts screaming at you!

I've learnt from personal experience to book myself a regular on-going massage. I'm not saying for you too to also book a regular massage. However, when a staggering 64% of our clients are coming to us due to an ongoing pain issue. To me, that's a big enough issue to re-educate our clients.

To summarise: You do not need a reason to have a massage!

Please don't wait until you are in physical pain. Look after yourself and book in for that ongoing massage.
From listening to my clients. It is not until we lay on the table, that we realize how much we need the massage. And yes, I know this one for experience also :-)

Using Affirmations





Lets talk affirmations.

I know from experience that at first they feel stupid or you feel like its a lie to say them. However they do work!

The reality is, is that you are already living a lie. Think about it. The negative crap that you tell yourself everyday is in actual fact a lie. The crap that you have made up in your head or the crap that some else has led you to believe is just a lie! Those negative thoughts in your head is the lie. 

Affirmations in actual fact are the truth about you that you have forgotten! Or may have not learnt about yourself.

When you prevent yourself from having the good in your life, or not allow yourself to follow a passion that truly makes you feel happy inside. This is denying your soul. Why do you not allow yourself to be happy? Why are you of all people not deserving of whatever it is that you want?

Can you not feel that ache inside? Do you not feel that sadness deep down inside even when you should be completely happy? 
This is your soul literally crying out. 
What are you denying yourself of? What is its that you want to do? You do know! Stop lying to yourself!

Affirmations can and do help.
When using affirmations it feels like a lie because you have been lying to yourself for so long. Please start to honor yourself and show some respect to yourself and do what your soul craves.

Allow yourself to use affirmations. They will start to feel true to you once you allow the truth to come in.

Affirmations feel great to use and calm your mind and you can literally feel them calm your body.

Some some that feel true for you. Here's some that I've used and literally all worked for me.

My story.

Originally I started weight training to strengthen my body for running and triathlons and then decided to try a bikini contest. I loved the weight training side of things.
I then found out that there is more to just sport, it’s the mentality behind it and sometimes a coach to guide you is exactly what you need. Someone to believe in you until you believe in yourself. Someone who can see the possibilities and who can direct you along the path
I’ve been there done that. I’ve failed so many times but... I never quit. I never gave in completely. Yes temporarily I thought to myself “screw if it’s too beeping hard” but I always got back up on my feet and tried again. 
After 3 times on stage I finally won a 4th Place in Bikini Comp. Was I disappointed?

I still hold my head high as I know damn well I put in everything I had at that time.  I am also committed to keep trying and that is the difference.
Yes I am human and on my own personal journey and also sometimes lose focus on my goals however I am always reminded somewhere to come back. This is due to my current mindset and deep inside I have a refusal to quit! I will keep trying because at the end of the day this is my journey and I love and thrive on accomplishing small feats.
I finally learnt in my last Comp:
To never compare yourself to others, yes look for inspiration but never to compare. This your journey alone and hopefully I can show you what is possible when you learn to believe in yourself.
We are all on our own journey so who gives a flying shit what the person next to you is doing! 
Just do your best and know that it is absolutely okay if you mess up and go off your path a little. You’ll always find your way back!

So Who Is Bridget Jones?

I am a certified Massage Therapist, Certified Master Trainer (aka Diploma Personal Trainer) Certified Coach and Trainer and love Massaging and teaching my skills so you too are able to create your own lifestyle.

Here is a little about my journey so far:
  • I started as a single mum, no self income source, completed a basic 20 hour massage course which led to start my diploma which led to starting my business from scratch
  • Everything I know business wise has been self taught!
  • Been in the fitness/ looking after yourself industry for over 6 years
  • I’ve competed in 42 km marathons, half Iron mans, the Busselton Jetty 3.8km race ( I’ve never had a DNF! ) although yes I admit I have considered quitting during races.,  INBA bikini competitions all while having family responsibilities and running my Massage and Fitness Business.
  • I naturally progressed into the personal training, fitness and  the coaching industry through my personal fitness and sporting endeavours and completed my:

  • Diploma of Fitness (SIS50213) - Australian Institute of Personal Trainers
  • Cert IV Trainer and Assessment (TAE40110) -  I hope to inspire and train others to become the best that they can be and help them with their very own lifestyle changes.
From here I have naturally progressed onto building:
  • Couple Massage Classes
  • Massage & Business Coaching and
  • Fitness Coaching businesses.

  • I’ve spent hours learning tools and strategies and creating systems that work.
  • I’ve Taught Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness
  • Teach One on One Massage Skills and Group Massage
  • Coach and mentor business skills, specializing in Massage & Fitness
  • Share my teachings international via blogs and webinars
  • 5 Star Rated Massage Business
  • Nominated and Finalist for 2018 Alcoa Peel Business Awards
  • Massage Trainer, Massage Business Coach and Group Fitness mentor to create lifestyle Changes to teach my clients how to love themselves first and to create your ideal life.


I live beachside in the gorgeous Mandurah, South Perth, Australia, with my amazing supportive and loving Partner and our perfectly blended family of 9 children. So I know from experience how important it is to take time out for yourself and to either:

I’m writing to you, yourself, to show you that it’s all going to be okay. That you are strong enough, that you do have more to give and that you are only ever given from the universe the life lessons that you ARE capable at handling.

You are so much more amazing than you can see and this is what I hope to show you. You do have so much to offer to the world. You do have so much to give. 

Somewhere hidden inside of you is a strength that either you are yet you find or you may have long forgotten. You will find this inner strength.

You do have more to give and you are here for bigger reasons than you know.

Have trust and full faith that you are here for bigger reasons than you are yet to know.

Evertything you want to "Be" is already within you


All those lives that you look at and wish that you could be like that or them, know that you can. Everything you see in others is 100% possible for you and to go one step further in terms of “attraction”, the very fact that you are able to see what it is that you want is evidence from the universe that you are one step closer. 
You are meant to have this too! And yes you do have what it takes to achieve this!


Engage in this feeling within you. Just believe it and feel it within your soul that you are worthy, that you are deserving and that you do have what it takes to have everything that your heart desires. You just have to be willing to work for it.
We all have those hard days when we can’t be f$$$ed but this is the time when we have to get back up and prove to ourselves what we are capable of. That’s how you were led to read this because you know deep within yourselves that you are capable of so much more. 
You can do this! You do have what it takes to live the life that you dream of!

You are not a failer!

We all go through our fair share of distrust that life will work itself out, that apparently all happens for a reason.


Even I have had feelings that everything seems to be a waste of time and that it doesn’t matter how much effort you put in with your life sometimes it just seems so damn hard.


Those feelings of disappointment and those feelings of not feeling like you are good enough are widely known. But when you fight through all those negative emotions it all somehow makes sense.


There are times when we all feel like we want to give in with life and stop trying. Everyone at some point in time deals with the exact same negative self-talk. There are times when you may put up your defences and prevent people or opportunities from entering your life or heart but remember that this is the stage that it is most important that you don’t give up.

This is the part when your strength of character really shows. This is when you overcome all that fear and push aside those barriers that you allow to hold yourself back. That's right. "Allow" is the key word here. Only you hold up those barriers so therefore only you,  being yourself, and only you can choose to put your shields down.


If you do happen to quit and give in then don’t get down on yourself for quitting or giving up. You don’t need to feel shame or embarrassment or disappointment because this is not you. You have not given up completely and you never will. Know that it is ok to temporally stop trying or to have a break from giving it your all. Know that this does not make you a failure. Do not make up stories inside your mind that you’re a failure because you temporally quit or have temporally given in. You deserve more love and respect than that.


Losing sight for a few days, weeks, or months, even years does not make you a failure.  A Failure is one that quits completely and that never looks back. But hear this and really take this in. Once your mind has been opened up to the possibilities of what is possible there will be something that inspires you to try again once more. You will find something that will remind you of the path that you were once on. There will be something that sparks that excitement and enthusiasm once more in your heart. You will never forget.


You don’t need to be your own worst enemy. Be aware of your negative comments of yourself. Your negative thoughts are nothing but made up stories that you have created yourself. Yes some may have been said to your face but they are not true. Design your own new story.


Remember why you started in the first place. Remember what your passion is and carry on following your dream.
